January 2002[]
- January 7-10: The 2002 Macworld Conference & Expo is held. Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs presents a keynote address on the opening day to introduce iPhoto, the 14-inch iBook, and the flat panel iMac G4.
- January 17: Mac OS X Server 10.1.2 is released.
February 2002[]
- February 19: Mac OS X 10.1.3 (Puma) and Mac OS X Server 10.1.3 are released.
March 2002[]
- March 20: A 10 GB version of the 1st-generation iPod becomes available. The 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display is released in an aluminum enclosure.
- March 21-23: The last Macworld Expo in Tokyo is held, with Apple CEO Steve Jobs providing the keynote address on the first day. The Hong Kong University Mac User Group is formed.
- March 30: The 10 GB version of the 1st-generation iPod is released.

- April 17: Mac OS X 10.1.4 (Puma) and Mac OS X Server 10.1.4 is released.
- April 29: Apple releases the eMac computer and the DVI to ADC Adapter.

- May 6-10: The 2002 Worldwide Developers Conference is held in San Jose, California. Apple CEO Steve Jobs holds a mock funeral for Mac OS 9 on the opening day to signify the end of classic Mac OS development at Apple Computer.
June 2002[]
- June 4: Mac OS X 10.1.5 (Puma build 5S60) is released.
- June 5: Mozilla 1.0, the future foundation of the Firefox browser, is released.
- June 26: Mac OS X 10.1.5 (Puma build 5T91) is released for certain iMacs to address networking issues.
July 2002[]
- July 14: QuickTime Broadcaster is released.
- July 15: QuickTime 6 is released with support for the playback of MPEG-4 video and AAC audio.
- July 17: The 2nd-generation iPod, iPod Remote, iTunes 3, and 17-inch iMac G4 are introduced at Macworld Expo in New York. Also introduced are .Mac online services, replacing iTools.

- August 13: The "Mirror Drive Doors" version of the Power Mac G4, featuring ATA-6 and DDR, is released.
- August 21: Final Cut Pro wins a Primetime Emmy Engineering Award for its impact on the television industry.
- August 22: Audion 3.0.2 is released, the last version for over 18 years.
- August 24: Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) is publicly released.

- September 9: The first executive board of the Beijing Macintosh User Group is elected.
