January 2006[]
- January 6: Hewlett-Packard ends their iPod+HP collaboration with Apple Computer. HP Printable Tattoos for the iPod+HP line are also discontinued.
- January 10: At the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, the Intel-based iMac and MacBook Pro are introduced; the latter includes the first version of the MagSafe power connector. iLife '06, iWork '06, Mac OS X 10.4.4, and the iPod Radio Remote also released.
- January 12-15: The 2006 Worldwide Newton Conference is held in San Francisco, California.
February 2006[]
- February 14: Mac OS X 10.4.5 (Tiger) is released.
- February 28: The iPod Hi-Fi is released.
March 2006[]
- March 23: Carl Carlson, former executive VP of operations at Apple Computer, passes away.
- March 31: Tony Fadell succeeds the retiring Jon Rubinstein as senior VP of the iPod division at Apple Computer.
April 2006[]
- April 3: Mac OS X 10.4.6 (Tiger) is released.
- April 11: Apple Remote Desktop 3.0 is released as a Universal binary with support for Intel processors.
- April 24: The 17-inch version of the 1st-generation MacBook Pro is released.
May 2006[]
- May 14: SheepShaver emulation software version 2.3 is released.
- May 16: The 1st-generation MacBook is released in black and white.

- June 6: A U2 Special Edition of the 5th-generation iPod is released.
- June 24: Apple Sapporo in Japan is the 153rd Apple retail store to be opened.
- June 27: Mac OS X 10.4.7 (Tiger) is released.

- July 1: Apple Stamford in Connecticut is the 154th Apple retail store to be opened.
- July 5: The eMac is discontinued.
- July 10: StickyBrain for Mac OS X is replaced by SOHO Notes.
- July 13: The Nike + iPod Sport Kit is released.
- July 15: Twitter is publicly launched on the web.
August 2006[]
- August 7-11: The 2006 Worldwide Developers Conference is held at Moscone West, where the 1st-generation Mac Pro is announced and released.
- August 19: Apple The Pier in Atlantic City, New Jersey is the 157th Apple retail store to be opened.
September 2006[]
- September 9: Apple MacArthur Center in Norfolk, Virginia is the 160th Apple retail store to be opened.
- September 12: The iTV is announced, and the 2nd-generation iPod nano, 2nd-generation iPod shuffle, and iPod Games are released during a special event in San Francisco, California. The 1st-generation iPod nano and 1st-generation iPod shuffle are discontinued.
- September 12-16: Apple Expo 2006 is held in Paris, France.
- September 26: Ocean Telecom Services, a shell company supposedly created by Apple Computer, files for the iPhone trademark.
- September 29: Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Tiger) is released.
October 2006[]
- October 4: Former Apple CFO Fred Anderson resigns from the Apple Board of Directors.
- October 24: Apple releases the MagSafe Airline Adapter for early MacBooks with MagSafe ports.
November 2006[]
- November 3: The 2nd-generation iPod shuffle is released.
- November 8: The original MacBook is updated with Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
December 2006[]
- December 4: The ShuffleBud adapter is released by Incipio for the 2nd-generation iPod shuffle.
