January 2011[]
- January 6: An update to Mac OS X 10.6.6 (Snow Leopard) is released with support for the new Mac App Store.
- January 11: The CDMA version of the iPhone 4 is announced by Verizon.
- January 14: Intaglio SketchPad 1.7 is released for iOS with the added ability to import PDF, PNG and JPEG, and lock graphics.
- January 24: Intaglio SketchPad 1.7.1 is released for iOS.
February 2011[]
- February 10: Verizon begins shipping the CDMA version of the iPhone 4, ending AT&T's exclusivity in the United States.
- February 17: Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and other Silicon Valley CEOs meet with U.S. president Barack Obama.
March 2011[]
- March 2: Apple CEO Steve Jobs makes a surprise appearance, while technically still on medical leave, to announce the iPad 2. The 1st-generation iPad is discontinued.
- March 11: The iPad 2 begins shipping.
- March 21: Mac OS X 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) is released.
- March 23: Craig Federighi succeeds Bertrand Serlet as VP of Mac Software Engineering at Apple Inc.
- March 28: All 5,000 tickets to the 2011 Worldwide Developers Conference are sold out in about 12 hours.

- June 6: In his final keynote address, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announces iCloud, iMessage, iOS 5, and Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) during the 2011 Worldwide Developers Conference at Moscone Center West in San Francisco.
- June 7: Steve Jobs personally lobbies the Cupertino City Council to permit the construction of Apple Park.
- June 21: The 64-bit successor to Final Cut Pro is released as Final Cut Pro X, while Final Cut Server is declared "end-of-life". Final Cut Express is also discontinued.
- June 23: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) is released.
July 2011[]
- July 11: iDVD 7.1.2 is the final version to be released for Mac OS X.
- July 20: Apple releases Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), updated MacBook Air models, and the Apple Thunderbolt Display. The original MacBook is discontinued.
- July 25: iOS 4.2.10 and 4.3.5 are released.
- July 30: The Apple The Americana at Brand opens in a mall across the street from the Apple Glendale Galleria.
August 2011[]
- August 1: Adobe discontinues support for the final release of Macromedia FreeHand.
- August 2: The Mac OS X version of Limbo is released.
- August 4: Apple starts to take pre-orders for the OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive. Temple Run is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
- August 5: Intaglio SketchPad 1.8 is released for iOS.
- August 16: Mac OS X 10.7.1 (Lion) is publicly released.
- August 24: Steve Jobs resigns as CEO of Apple Inc. and is succeeded by Tim Cook.
- August 27: Apple Northlake Mall in Charlotte, North Carolina is the 342nd Apple retail store to be opened.
September 2011[]
- September 1: Jetpack Joyride is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
- September 9: Final Cut Pro X version 10.0.1 is released for Mac OS X.
October 2011[]
- October 4: Apple senior VP Phil Schiller announces the white version of the 4th-generation iPod touch, the iPhone 4S, and the Siri digital assistant for iOS 5 in a special event. A version 1.2 firmware update for the 6th-generation iPod nano is released. The 16 and 32 GB versions of the iPhone 4 are discontinued.
- October 5: Apple co-founder and chairman Steve Jobs passes away after succumbing to complications from pancreatic cancer.
- October 12: iOS 5 is released to the public, featuring Cards, Find My Friends, Newsstand, and Notification Center. Apple launches iCloud services. Mac OS X 10.7.2 (Lion) is also released.
- October 13: FotoFix is released by Purgatory Design for iOS 5.
- October 14: The iPhone 4S is released with Siri.
- October 19: A celebration of the life of Steve Jobs is held at the Apple Campus.
- October 27: Riptide GP is released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
November 2011[]
- November 9: Intaglio SketchPad is updated to version 1.9.1, addressing compatibility issues with iOS 5.
- November 10: iOS 5.0.1 is released.
- November 11: The 1st-generation iPod nano is recalled by Apple due to a battery overheat issue.
- November 15: Arthur Levinson becomes the chairman of the Apple Board of Directors, in place of the late Steve Jobs. The Apple Design coffee table book is published in the German market by Hatje Cantz Verlag.
- November 17: Minecraft: Pocket Edition and The Oregon Trail: American Settler are released for iOS through the Apple App Store.
- November 18: Minecraft: Java Edition 1.0 is released with web browser support for Mac OS X.
December 2011[]
- December 9: Logic Express and Logic Studio are discontinued by Apple as sales of Logic Pro migrate to the Mac App Store.
- December 13: Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac receives its final software update to version 11.6.6.
