Apple Real-time Operating System Environment, also known as A/ROSE, is a system extension that is installed with classic Mac OS System 4 or later, when an EtherTalk or TokenTalk NuBus card is present.

The network cards are based on Apple Computer's "Macintosh Coprocessor Platform" which include their own 68k processor and memory. A simplified version of this embedded operating system software is loaded from the A/ROSE extension to run within Mac OS to communicate with the card(s).[1]
