AppleShare PDS

AppleShare PDS icon

AppleShare PDS refers to a hidden file created and used by AppleShare when file sharing is first enabled on a system. It is used to store volume directory information for any connected volumes accessed via file sharing, and is stored in the root directories of any physically mounted hard disk volumes. PDS stands for Parallel Directory Structure, and is unrelated to the processor direct slots found in some Macintosh models.

In the event that file sharing is unable to start, a possible culprit may be a damaged AppleShare PDS file. In this case, deleting it may solve the issue.
