The Apple 30-pin to VGA Adapter is a dongle that allows supported iOS devices to output video to VGA displays through the 30-pin dock connector.

History[]

The adapter was first introduced in April 2010 as the iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter.[1] However, users complained that support in early devices was limited and could only display up to 720p through applications that directly supported the adapter. Use of the adapter also prevents the device from being charged.[2] Some of these shortcomings were overcome with the Apple 30-pin to Digital AV Adapter.[3]
