The Apple A18 is a 64-bit ARM-based system on a chip (SoC), designed by Apple and fabricated by TSMC for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. It was announced in a special event on September 9, 2024.[1]
Features[]
The A18 is manufactured by TSMC to Apple's design specifications. The die is fabricated through an enhanced 3 nm process (N3E). The 6-core CPU contains 4 high-performance cores that are faster than the ones in the Apple A16 while using 30% less power. The 5 GPU cores are 40% faster than the A16 while using 35% less power. The 16-core Neural Engine is capable of 35 trillion operations per second.[1][2] Despite media speculation, the A18 is not a binned version of the A18 Pro.[3]
