Apple DVD-R media kits were marketed by Apple Computer for Macs with "SuperDrive" optical drives that could record to or "burn" DVD-R media.[1]

The media kits were originally sold in packs of 5 for US$49.95 with no specified recording speed. The packs were later available for $14.95 in 2x recording speeds, and $19.95 in 4x and 8x recording speeds.

Update for older SuperDrives[]

2x SuperDrives with Pioneer mechanisms may have issues with higher speed recording media. Apple released a firmware update in 2002 to limit these units to 1x speeds when using such media to prevent recording problems.[2]
