January 1983[]
On January 19, 1983, Apple Computer unveiled the Apple IIe and the Apple Lisa at their annual shareholder's meeting. Steve Jobs had already left the Lisa development team for the Macintosh.[1]
October 1983[]
On October 22, 1983, Apple Computer chairman Steve Jobs hosted a sales conference in Hawaii for early Macintosh developers where he proclaimed "1984 won't be like 1984". The event included a computer software-themed parody of The Dating Game in which Software Publishing co-founder Fred Gibbons, Lotus Software CEO Mitch Kapor, and Microsoft CEO Bill Gates were participants.[2]
