Steve Jobs MacWorld - 1999

The 1999 Macworld Conference & Expo was held January 4 to 8, 1999 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. During the keynote event on January 5, interim CEO Steve Jobs presented the new blue & white Power Macintosh G3 tower, Mac OS X Server, and the new 266 MHz version of the iMac G3 in "Five Flavors".[1]

February 1999[]

On February 21, 1999, a keynote event was held at Macworld Expo Tokyo, where Jobs recapped the introductions from the January Macworld Expo in San Francisco.[2]

The 1999 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 1999) was held May 10 to 14, 1999 at the San Jose Convention Center. New announcements included the opening of the operating system underlying the new OS as Darwin, improvements to the Macintosh Finder, and the replacement of QuickDraw 3D with OpenGL as the primary 3D API. The system formerly named OpenStep, and during development termed "Yellow Box", was formally renamed Cocoa.[3]

On July 21, 1999, a keynote event was held at Macworld Expo New York, where actor Noah Wyle masqueraded as Steve Jobs. Jobs then introduced the iBook and the AirPort wireless base station.[4]

August 1999[]

On August 31, 1999, a keynote event was held at the Seybold Seminar in San Francisco, where Steve Jobs introduced the Power Mac G4 tower with PowerPC G4 processor.[5]

October 1999[]

On October 5, 1999, a special event was held in Cupertino, where Steve Jobs demonstrated Mac OS 9 and unveiled the iMac DV.[6]
