January 2004[]
The 2004 Macworld Conference & Expo was held January 6 to 9, 2004 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. During the keynote event on the opening day, Apple CEO Steve Jobs celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Mac with a presentation of a revised version of the 1984 ad and updates about Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther". New software introductions included Final Cut Express 2, Microsoft Office 2004, and iLife '04, which added GarageBand. New hardware introductions included the Xserve G5 and the iPod Mini.[1]
June 2004[]
iTunes Europe Store[]
On June 15, 2004, Apple held a special event to announce the opening of the iTunes Music Store in Europe. [2]
WWDC 2004[]

The 2004 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2004) was held June 28 to July 2, 2004 at Moscone West in San Francisco. During the keynote event on the opening day, Apple CEO Steve Jobs noted that 3,500 developers attended, a 17% increase from WWDC 2003. All attendees received a developer preview of Mac OS X Tiger, a grey T-shirt with the Apple logo on the front and "WWDC 2004" on the back, a backpack with room to hold a 17-inch PowerBook, and a copy of Apple Remote Desktop 2.0.[3]
August 2004[]
On August 31, 2004, a keynote event was held at Apple Expo in France, where Apple senior VP Phil Schiller presented the keynote event as CEO Steve Jobs was on medical leave. Product announcements included the recent release of Motion and the new iMac G5.[4]
October 2004[]
On October 26, 2004, Apple held a special music event at the California Theatre in San Jose where Steve Jobs returned to review press reception to the iMac G5 and announce that 93 Apple retail stores had been opened. New hardware announcements included the iPod photo and iPod U2 Special Edition. iPod Socks were also introduced. U2 band members Bono and the Edge also appeared in person to promote the iPod model and the release of their new music compilation through the iTunes Music Store. They dedicated a live performance to Jony "iPod" Ive.[5]
