On March 2, 2011, Apple CEO Steve Jobs hosts an event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, while technically on medical leave at the time. He announced that 100 million e-books were sold through iBooks, that 200 million iTunes accounts were opened, and that US$2 billion had been paid out to iOS developers to date. After playing a "2010: Year of the iPad" promotional video, the iPad 2 is introduced.[1][2]

Apple WWDC 2011 Keynote Address

The 2011 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2011) was held June 6 to 10, 2011 at Moscone West in San Francisco. During the keynote event on the opening day, new announcements included Mac OS X Lion, iOS 5, and iCloud. This was the final Apple event hosted by Steve Jobs.

On October 4, 2011, Apple senior VP Phil Schiller introduced the iPhone 4S with its new Siri voice assistant at an event title "Let's Talk iPhone". Other announcements included updates to the existing iPod nano and iPod touch lines along with Find My Friends for iOS 5.[3][4]

On October 19, 2011, a celebration of the life of Steve Jobs, who had died on October 5, was held at the Apple Campus.
