Meet the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini - Apple
On January 17, 2023, Apple Senior VP of Hardware Engineering John Ternus announced an updated Mac mini with Apple M2 and M2 Pro chips in a pre-recorded video. Also announced were updated 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with new Apple M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. The new models began shipping on the following January 24th.[1]
Introducing the all-new HomePod - Apple
On January 18, Apple quietly announced the 2nd-generation HomePod through a pre-recorded online video. Running on an Apple S7 chip, it is a full-sized replacement for the 1st-generation HomePod, which was discontinued in March 2021. The new HomePod became available on February 3rd.[2]
June 2023[]
WWDC 2023 — June 5 - Apple

The 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC23) was held from June 5 to 9 as a hybrid event that is streamed online with limited live attendance.[3] During the keynote event, Senior VP of hardware engineering John Ternus announced the new 15-inch MacBook Air with the Apple M2 chip, and the updated Mac Studio with the Apple M2 Max or M2 Ultra chips. Also introduced was the new Mac Pro with Apple M2 Ultra, which negates the need for an Afterburner Card. Senior VP of software engineering Craig Federighi and his staff then introduced iOS 17 with improved Neural Engine features, Journaling, and Standby. iPadOS 17 is updated to support Lock Screens with Widgets. Federigh then introduced macOS Sonoma (version 14). tvOS 17 is announced with support for FaceTime. VP of technology Kevin Lynch also introduced watchOS 10. Apple CEO Tim Cook and VP of human interface Alan Dye then introduced the Vision Pro AR headset, featuring the Apple M2 and R1 chips running visionOS.[4]
September 2023[]
Apple Event - September 12
On September 12, Apple CEO Tim Cook presided over the "Wonderlust" event, beginning with stories about customers whose lives had been saved by the use of Apple Watch and then hailing the completion of the Mac transition to Apple Silicon. COO Jeff Williams and staff introduced the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, powered by the Apple S9 chip. Other announcements included the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, powered by the Apple A16. The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are powered by the Apple A17 Pro and feature improved cameras that can record spatial video that can be played back on an Apple Vision Pro. All of the new devices feature the Apple U2 chip for improved Find My capabilities, which were released on September 22.[5]
October 2023[]
Apple Event - October 30
On October 30, Apple held a "Scary fast" event, where CEO Tim Cook hailed the completed transition to AppleSilicon. Senior VP of Hardware technologies Johny Srouji then introduced the Apple M3 family of chips, including the M3 Pro and Max, featuring dynamic caching of the GPU and other performance improvements. Senior VP of Hardware Engineering John Ternus then presented updated MacBook Pro and iMac models featuring these faster chips.[6]
