The following Special Events were held by Apple in 2024:

March 2024[]

Apple announced updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs on March 4 via a press release. They feature the new Apple M3 chip, and can connect to two external displays with the lid closed, unlike its predecessor, which could only connect to one external display regardless the lid closed. The Midnight colour also features a new anodisation seal similar to that found in the Space Black colour of MacBook Pro, to reduce fingerprints. Both models were released the following March 8.

Apple held its first livestream event of the year, titled "Let loose.", on May 7 at 7 a.m. PT. CEO Tim Cook opened the event by recounting the recent launch of the Apple Vision Pro headset with real-life examples of its uses, and announcing that the M3-based MacBook Airs had become the world's best-selling 13 and 15-inch laptops. Senior VP of Hardware Engineering John Ternus introduced the 6th-generation iPad Air, updated with the Apple M2 chip and available in 11 and 13-inch sizes.[1][2] Ternus then introduced the 7th-generation iPad Pro, featuring the faster Apple M4 chip with tandem OLED display technology, also available in 11 and 13-inch sizes. These new iPad models, to be released on the following May 15th, support the Apple Pencil Pro with new squeeze, barrel roll, and haptic feedback features.[3] Available immediately are new versions of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPadOS and macOS.[4][5]

June 2024[]

The 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC24) was held from June 10 to 14. Announcements during the keynote event presided by Apple CEO Tim Cook on the first day included new versions of its operating systems, such as iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia (version 15), tvOS 18, visionOS 2, and watchOS 11. Also introduced by Cook with senior VP Craig Federighi was Apple Intelligence, the company's own system-level artificial intelligence platform, developed in partnership with OpenAI.[6]

Apple held a special event, titled "It's Glowtime.", on September 9 at 10 a.m. PT. New announcements included the thinner Apple Watch Series 10 with Apple S10 chip and larger displays, new Satin Black colour for the existing Apple Watch Ultra 2, new AirPods 4, new hearing aid feature for the AirPods Pro 2, and an update to the AirPods Max such that it features new colours and a USB-C port. New iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models were also introduced with Apple A18 and A18 Pro chips, support for Apple Intelligence, and a new touch-sensitive Camera Control button.[7] The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max's titanium frame also features a new micro-blasted finish, with both models featuring a new 48MP ultra-wide camera, and the 16 Pro featuring a new 5x telephoto lens, previously limited to the Pro Max model.

October 2024[]

On October 15, Apple announced the 7th-generation iPad mini through a press release. It featured the Apple A17 Pro chip and 8 GB or RAM, allowing it to support Apple Intelligence.[8] It also gained support for Apple Pencil Pro, and its base storage doubled to 128 GB.

On October 28, Apple announced through a press release and pre-recorded video featuring senior VP John Ternus that the iMac was updated with the Apple M4 chip, a 12 MP Center Stage camera, a new nano-texture glass option when selecting the 10-core CPU option, and a base configuration of 16 GB of RAM, allowing it to support Apple Intelligence. The Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad, were also updated with support for USB-C.[9] Ternus also stated that additional announcements would follow through the week.[10][11]

On October 29, Apple similarly announced a new Mac mini that was redesigned in a smaller 5-inch square enclosure. It was available with the Apple M4, or the new M4 Pro chip. Both models feature three Thunderbolt ports, with the Apple M4 supporting Thunderbolt 4, and the M4 Pro model supporting Thunderbolt 5. USB-A ports were removed too, previously available on their predecessors. Both models also come with two USB 3 ports on the front, and were also described as being the first carbon-neutral Mac.[12][13]

On October 30, Apple introduced 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros updated with choice of the Apple M4, M4 Pro, or M4 Max chips. The base RAM configuration was doubled to 16 GB, and the versions with the M4 Pro or Max chips include support for Thunderbolt 5. The M4 model also gained support for two external displays with the lid open. The display's SDR brightness increased to 1000-nits, and a nano-texture glass option was added. Both include a 12 MP Center Stage camera, and the battery supports up to 24 hours of use per charge, with the battery life of the M4 Pro 14-inch MacBook Pro increasing to up to 22 hours of use per charge. All of the new devices announced during the week would become available on the following November 8th.[14][15][16] At the same time of announcement, the base RAM of the existing MacBook Airs with Apple M2 and Apple M3 were also doubled to 16 GB, while maintaining similar prices.
