The Apple Watch Series 2 was a second generation water resistent smartwatch designed and produced by Apple Inc. It was released on September 16, 2016, alongside the iPhone 7, which also was the first iPhone to be water resistent. It succeeded the original Apple Watch series and was superseded by the Apple Watch Series 3 in 2017.

Features[]

The Series 2 came in two sizes like previous models: 38mm and 42mm cases with matching bands for both sizes. It also included the faster Apple S2 processor, GPS, and a brighter 1000-nit display.

This was the first watch to have water resistence and 2 new limited editions — Hermes, which used Hermes Paris' design and material on the Apple Watch. It also came in aluminum, stainless, or ceramic cases.

Versions[]

Hermes[]

Apple has collaborated with Hermes Paris multiple times, and Hermes Apple Watches use Hermes leather bands and come with a Hermes orange sport band that is included in the box by default. For more about the Hermes edition, go to Apple Watch Hermes.

Nike+[]

A special edition Nike+ version of the Series 2 was made with added benefits such as a map of your run, special custom watch faces, some that represent various Nike products, the Nike+ Run Culb app built-in, and exclusive Nike bands.

Edition[]

The Series 2 Watch Edition had an all-new case that was made of ceramic.
