The Apple Watch Series 9 is the 9th generation of smartwatches of the Apple Watch lineup designed by Apple Inc. It was announced during a special event on September 12, 2023, succeeding the Apple Watch Series 8. The Series 9 became available on the following September 22nd.[1]
New features[]
The Apple Watch Series 9 features the Apple S9 SiP (System in Package) which features a 4-core Neural Engine to handle new double-tap hand gesture detection and on-device Siri which does not require an internet connection. The S9 also includes a 2nd-generation Ultra Wideband for enhanced Precision Finding with iPhone 15 and later models. The display brightness has been increased to 2000 nits, double that of previous models. Increased power efficiency allows the Series 9 to match the battery life of the Series 8 despite the new features.
The Series 9 was released with watchOS 10 pre-installed and is available in 41 or 45mm sizes. The aluminum cases are available in starlight, midnight, silver, (PRODUCT)RED, and pink, while the stainless steel cases are available in gold, silver, or graphite.[2]
