Not to be confused with the original iPad Dock for the 1st-generation iPad.

The Apple iPad Dock (formerly Apple iPad 2 Dock) was a peripheral that was released by Apple for the iPad 2 in April 2011. It also supports the 3rd-generation iPad.

Usage[]

The back of the dock features a line-out headphone jack and a pass-through 30-pin dock connector to attach a USB charger or other peripherals, such as an iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter.

This dock was designed specifically to support the thickness of the iPad 2 and 3. Users found that the tight tolerances do not allow an iPad to be docked while inside a case or protected by a Smart Cover.[1]
