Thanks to all holding down the fort here
Hi all, apologies for my extended absence (for which I don't have a complete explanation yet) and thanks to the following participants who helped to hold down the fort at the Apple Wiki:
- Sidlon (also involved with the Apple Arcade Discord and Reddit), for helping to maintain all the articles about gaming on Apple platforms.
- Legotrolls213, for helping to maintain articles about Apple Stores.
- Adespoton, for maintaining articles pertaining to macOS.
- Vector Sigma, for helping to keep vandals at bay...
I'm sure I've missed others, so thank you all nonetheless! 🙂❤️

Hello, everybody!
Hello, guys! If you don't know me, my name is kjjj6uhhhhh, but you can just call me Gregory. If you don't know who I am, I am a 13-year-old who works for the Animator vs. Animation Wiki, and helped to contribute this wiki by making category pages that weren't created yet, but had pages in it. For example, when I went to the 2024 introduction category page from the Vision Pro page, it didn't show anything. So I copied and pasted things from a different introduction category, but rewrote the year the category is about.
Preparing images for infoboxes
Note: This document is a work in progress. This is a work in progress
Since Fandom's rollout of their Unified Community Platform (UCP), they've migrated to newer "portable infoboxes". Sure, it requires some migration and work from legacy templates of the longtime Wikia system, but the goal is to reach more users across desktop and mobile platforms. This document has been tailored for users of Apple products on the Apple Wiki.
There are various image types, but the most commonly used are JPEG, GIF, PNG, and now WebP.
- JPEG (.jpg) is ideal for photos and presently does not account for transparent pixels.
- GIF (.gif) is usable for legacy icons with 256 colors or fewer, and 1-bit transparency (it is either completely opaque or transparent, on or off).…
Floppy Emulator review
So, I got the BMOW Floppy Emu, and I like it. But, it doesn't work correctly with my dingus Macintosh SE. I will be testing it on my Macintosh LC II that I am acquiring from a friend in about a week.
UCP migration has occurred on the Apple Wiki
Some editors may have noticed subtle and not-so-subtle changes to the site. We've just made the migration to Fandom's new Unified Community Platform (UCP) and there's no going back. Here's a quick list of the caveats:
- Blogs: The Blog:Recent_posts page now also displays posts from the community feed. Here is Fandom's page regarding the migration of blogs. To browse blog posts only, see all blog posts (not in chronological order).
- Editing: If you're having trouble with the new UCP source editor's bugginess, lagginess, and broken "Preview" feature, you can enable an older functional editor by going into your preferences, then the Editing tab, then select "Source editor" from the pop-up menu under Editor. Right now, this pop-up menu preference has not…
come on apple release the new emojis
There are 117 new emojis waiting for iOS users to use. Release. Them. Now.
iPod touch/Future
The seventh-generation iPod Touch will likely be the last device to be released under the trademark — (iPod). The iPod trademark has now been replaced by the iPhone. The iPod touch is mostly just an iPhone without calling capabilities, and now, with the existence of the budget iPhone SE, Apple no longer needs to make any new iPods.
- The iPhone is just technically an high-end iPod with calling capabilities and a high price tag :)
Redlinks and outdated content.
I just want to point out the rather excessive amount of redlinks I have noticed in this wiki, and while i have seen much worse cases on other wikis, but, for such a large community,
So I suggest that, for a while, we should start creating pages at redlinks instead of creating new topics, as this would greatly help the wiki.
Another problem that i would link to point out is that — while there are excessive redlinks, there are many times that amout pages, that have outdated material, and it will likely take a long time to fix this issue, so i suggest that we create a new template at Template:Update and a new category at Category:Pages in need of being updated, which will be used on pages with outdated material, so people can we notified and awa…
LOL rumor sites
There's a disproportionate amount of energy being poured into rumors of new iPhone and iPad Pro models as things are reaching a fever pitch for Apple's next Special Event. Wikipedia has their rule about overt speculation, but we're not Wikipedia, so here's a few practical guidelines I'd like to lay out so we can keep the fun and enthusiasm, without turning into a fanon site...
- Most important, include a link or reference to the source from where you're getting your info from, so we know you're not just making it up.
- Ideal sources that warrant new stand-alone articles should be confirmed information from Apple itself, data gleaned from beta releases, or confirmed leaks of information from manufacturers in Apple's supply chain (photos of parts…
Is iPod (touch 8) going to exist?
I saw a fake YT video saying about iPod touch 8th gen commercial. Is it fake?

My iPhone 6 light-up logo mod!
THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED AS NEW THINGS ARRIVE.
I'm currently doing a iPhone 6 mod: a GLOWING LOGO! I found this when browsing YouTube, and I ordered a kit from here: https://theunlockr.com/product/iphone-light-kit-mod-iphone-6/ . I'm currently waiting for the kit to arrive, as it is backordered. There is a small flat rate shipping fee if you do buy this kit and procced to do this. NOTE: THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. If you do proceed, you are doing it at your OWN RISK.
So after the kit arrives, you'd have to use the pentalobe screwdriver, a suction cup, and a flat tool such as a guitar pick to pry the phone open. The rest is in this YouTube video made by the same person who created the kit (TheUnlockr). https://www.youtube.com/watch?…
Viewing expired auction links from Japan
Auctions can be a valuable resource for finding information about vintage items. However, Yahoo! JAPAN will expire auction listings after a set period of time (a tactic that eBay has also adopted), causing search engines to lead to dead links.
However, even though a URL for a Yahoo! JAPAN auction may have expired, the data from the auction can continue to be viewable through a 3rd party online auction service. For example: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c681773627
Copy the auction ID number from the Yahoo! URL above and paste it to the end of the web address below: https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/c681773627 [SUCCESS!]

Here comes 10.1...
Well, I've got the OS X 10.1 Finder walkthrough up; now I need to do demos for all the default apps. Any suggestions for format/etc. are welcome.
Note: The video I'm using in the 10.x series is the audio from the intro video that plays when you boot into the OS for the first time. I'll be using the ad music for prior OSes.
Three Tips Every Mac User Should Know
Tip 1: Take a Screenshot- To take a screenshot of the whole screen, press Command+Shift+3. To take a picture of a certain area, press Command+Shift+4+Click+Drag.
Tip 2: Invert Screen- There is pretty much no reason to do this, but pressing Ctrl+Alt+Command+8 will change from black on white to white on black in an instant.
Tip 3: Talking Mac- Open terminal and type in say hi. The computer will say hi! Two funny say commands you should try-say mac os x and say -v Whisper help me get out of here they locked me in this thing a long time ago.
OK; main editing's done....
I've got the majority of the texts at least somewhat sanitized, but have realized from some of them that a basic walkthrough is often going to be better than following the text. So, I've got two formats of video up now. A third type I'm planning to do is based on requests: if people request a specific OS feature/version be displayed on my wall, I'll try to capture it and stick it up on the appropriate page.
How to Recover Deleted Contacts from iPhone
Step 4. Then, turn on Contacts again and tap "Merge".
Wait for a while, you'll see deleted contacts back on your iPhone. If you still can't find your deleted contacts on your iPhone, you can delete your iCloud account and re-login your iCloud account with Apple ID and password. Then redo above steps and those deleted contacts should be back.
Moreover, you can make a .vcf contact copy so that you'll have a solid backup of your contacts. You can open it on your computer, or send this .vcf file as email and open it on your iPhone to get them back on your Contacts.
After you login in icloud.com, click Contacts. On the bottom left, you will see the setting icon, click it and press "Export vCard". And the .vcf contacts file has already on your comp…
OS X Updates
Looks like before I get more done on the videos, I'll be cleaning up the existing text. Hopefully by the time I'm done, it'll be usable as a transcript to go with the videos.
Ideas for Demo Classic Mac videos?
I'll be adding some videos that walk along with the Classic System pages on here over the next while; eventually, I plan to add voice (possibly Maclintalk Fred as the narrator, with intonation added) and eventually draw a bunch of the individual videos together to produce a mini documentary of the history of the Mac OS.
Any thoughts on software/history tidbits that should be included are welcome :)
Some Seemingly Unknown Features
In case nobody here knew, there are many features to Wikia that go unused on the Apple Wiki, such as Chat.
My Work on Google Wiki
Hello. I am on the Google Wiki, only because I want to see what far-fetched articles of tech they think will do what against Apple Inc. :)
