Carl H. Carlson (May 24, 1928 - March 23, 2006) was an early executive of Apple Computer.
Early life and education[]
Carlson was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in May 1928. He studied mechanical engineering and earned an MBA.[1]
Career[]
Carlson began his career in the technology industry in the 1950s.[1] Prior to joining Apple, he was the president and director of manufacturing at Basic Manufacturing, Inc. a subsidiary of BTI Computer Systems.[2]
Apple Computer[]
Carlson was recruited by Michael Scott to become VP of operations of Apple Computer in December 1979.[2][3] He rose to become the Executive VP of operations, building worldwide manufacturing and distribution for the company, and retired in 1984.[1] Carlson's subordinate, Del Yocam, succeeded him and became Apple's first chief operating officer.[4]

Carlson spent his retirement organizing tournaments at the Black Hawk Country Club. He died in San Ramon, California on March 23, 2006. He is interred at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette, California.[1]
