A digital camera captures and stores still images as digital data, in contrast to a conventional film camera which would record the scene onto photographic film.[1]

History[]

The first digital cameras became available to the public in the 1990s, with the first consumer digital camera being the QuickTake 100 from Apple Computer in 1994.[2]
