EtherWave was a line of adapter dongles developed by Farallon for Ethernet ports (primarily AAUI) along with some dual-port expansion cards.
Description[]
A major attraction of EtherWave transceivers is that they all feature two 10BASE-T ports offering easy daisy-chaining like Farallon's earlier PhoneNET adapters without the need for a hub. However, daisy-chaining introduces a single point of failure that can disconnect the network on either side of a device that experiences problems. Each EtherWave adapter is actually functioning as a small 2-port hub, contributing to relatively high individual cost. All EtherWave transceivers for Mac are compatible with Open Transport.[1] Older units are known to develop capacitor problems.[2]
