TenFourFox is a fork of the Firefox web browser for Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), which is no longer supported by Apple nor the Mozilla Foundation. It was maintained by Cameron Kaiser for PowerPC Macs until development was suspended in 2021.[1]
Description[]
TenFourFox was forked from a beta version of Firefox 4, which dropped PowerPC support during development.[1] It is not recommended to use TenFourFox simultaneously with Firefox 3.6 as it may result in the loss of user browsing data.[2]
System requirements[]
As of 2021, the minimum system requirements are:[2]
- A PowerPC-based Macintosh with a PowerPC G3 processor. A PowerPC G4 or G5 is recommended.
- Mac OS X 10.4.11, supported up to Mac OS X 10.5.8.
- 500 MB of physical RAM.
- 200 MB of free drive space.
Alternatives[]
As TenFourFox development was halted, alternative web browsers for PowerPC Macs include:
- InterWebPPC, a simplified successor to TenFourFox, from the developer of Arctic Fox.
- Roccat Browser, based on the WebKit engine for Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
