Frame rate measures the number of frames of an animation or video sequence which are displayed every second, measured in frames per second (fps). The higher the frame rate, the smoother the motion will appear, but more processing power and system bandwidth will be required.

At less than 24 to 30 fps, the human eye can detect the new pictures coming onto the screen.[1]
