Dr. Herng-Jeng Jou (born February 1964) is a materials engineer at Apple Inc.

Education[]

Jou graduated from the National Taipei University of Technology in 1984 and received his bachelor's degree from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 1988. In 1995, Jou received a Ph.D. in computational solid mechanics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1995; his dissertation was about "Analytic and Numerical Studies of the Role of Elasticity on Microstructural Evolution during Diffusional Phase Transformations". He then became a postdoctoral fellow at theColorado School of Mines in May 1995.[1]

Career[]

In May 1998, Jou joined QuesTek Innovations as a senior materials design engineer and became the director of technology in June 2001.[1]

Apple Inc.[]

In October 2012, Jou left QuesTek to join Apple in Cupertino, California as a senior manager of materials engineering and product design. In April 2020, he became a distinguished engineer (DEST) and director of materials engineering and product design.[1]
