The "Late 2012" iMac, sometimes referred to as the "Slim Unibody" iMac, was announced by Apple on October 23, 2012. The 21.5-inch model was released on November 30, 2012 and the 27-inch model was released in December 2012.
Features[]
The unexpected redesign featured a substantially thinner edge than previous iMacs, new proprietary Fusion Drive, faster processors (Intel Core i5 and i7 "Ivy Bridge"), and graphics, along with updates to the ports, but with the same overall stand depth (8 in. / 20.3 cm). To achieve the slim 5 mm edge, which tapers out at the back, Apple removed the optical SuperDrive and re-engineered the display.[1]
