iMovie HD is an HD video-editing application and an iApp from Apple Computer. It was released on January 11, 2005, during the Keynote speech at the Macworld Conference & Expo San Francisco 2005 in San Francisco, California, USA.

As an upgrade to the iMovie software, iMovie HD now fully supports High-definition video. In addition, iMovie HD also has a feature named Magic iMovie. This feature allows you to automatically have your video imported into separate clips, add titles, transitions and soundtrack (music), all in one step.
iMovie HD supports input from conventional DV cameras, HDV cameras as well as video cameras with MPEG-4 video files.
Furthermore, iMovie HD has been speedbumped and has 10 new video effects, 3 new transitions and 12 new Skywalker Sound audio effects. Also, instead of a black screen it is grey.
