iPadOS 17

iPadOS 17 is a major release of iPadOS tablet operating system, developed by Apple to succeed iPadOS 16. It was released alongside iOS 17 on September 18, 2023.

New features[]

Apple senior VP of software engineering Craig Federighi and staff introduced the following new features on June 5th at the 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference:[1]

  • Interactable Widgets - new ability to use the functions on a widget without entering the app.
  • Lock Screen - added the ability to customizable lock screen, add widgets, and a live activities feature to show upcoming or live events.
  • PDF — updated to support the option to fill out blank fields, and create a custom signature.
  • Notes - added the option to view a PDF with either full screen, or multiple at once.
  • Stage Manager - new external camera use, and sizable windows.
  • Follow Along - new ability to follow along with a collaborator's view.
