The 9th-generation iPad, also referred to as iPad 10.2 inch and iPad 9, is a tablet computer that was announced by Apple in a special event on September 14, 2021 and released on September 24th.[1] Following the announcement of the 10th-generation iPad on October 18, 2022, the 9th-generation version remained available as a budget model.[2]

This iPad is powered by the Apple A13 with a new ultra wide angle 12MP front camera, but retaining the same form factor as the previous generation. The front camera supports FaceTime HD video and Center Stage tracking.[3] It is also the last iPad model to have been introduced with a home button.[4]
Preliminary speculation[]
Some preliminary specifications were purportedly leaked when a Target employee prematurely stocked new cases that were not supposed to be released until early April 2021. the new iPad was thought to share the same exterior dimensions as the 11" iPad Pro (3rd-5th generation), but the case design may have been intended for the 10.9-inch iPad Air (2020).[5][6]
