The iPad Air is the 1st-generation tablet computer of the iPad Air series, designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. It was announced on October 22, 2013, and was released on November 1, 2013. It was discontinued with the launch of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro on March 21, 2016.
Features
The iPad Air features a thinner design with similarities to the contemporaneous iPad mini 2 with the same 64-bit Apple A7 processor with the M7 motion coprocessor.[1]
Discontinuation
The thinner iPad Air 2, was announced on October 16, 2014 and was released on October 22.[2] However, the original iPad Air continued to be sold at discount until March 21, 2016.
Aftermarket support
Aftermarket and refurbished units continue to be available through 3rd-party sources. However, user reviews of the older iPad Air have trended negative as it is considered obsolete, with operating system support limited to iOS 12.5.4.[3][4] It does not support the iPadOS operating system that was released in September 2019.[5]
