The iPad mini 4 is the fourth model of the iPad mini line, introduced along with the first iPad Pro during the Hey Siri event on September 9, 2015. The iPad Mini 4 was available immediately, replacing the iPad mini 3 which was discontinued on the same day. However, the iPad Pro was not available until the following November.
Features[]
The dimensions of the iPad mini 4 are slightly taller and wider than previous iPad mini models. However, it is also thinner like the iPad Air 2, and lighter than previous versions. The headphone jack was also repositioned and the mute switch was eliminated. As a result, Apple released a new silicone case specifically for the iPad mini 4 as previous Smart Covers did not fit.
The iPad mini 4 is powered by the dual-core Apple A8 processor, also used by the iPhone 6. It also features an Apple M8 motion co-processor.
Discontinuation[]
The iPad mini 4 was succeeded by the 5th-generation iPad mini on March 18, 2019.
