The Apple iPhone 3G Dock was released by Apple in July 2008 for the iPhone 3G. It also supported the iPhone 3GS, which retained the same external form factor.

The iPhone 3G Dock had a pass-through 30-pin dock connector on the back that allowed for charging and syncing over USB 2.0. A 3.5 mm line-out port could be connected to external speakers or an audio system. It also supported speakerphone calls. The price was reduced from that of the previous iPhone Dock by including no cables or power adapters. An alternative was to use the Apple Universal Dock with cradle inserts for the iPhone 3G.[1]
