The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are smartphones that were announced alongside the iPhone X on September 12, 2017 and were released on September 22. They jointly serve as successors to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus of 2016, and were the predecessors to the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max.
Features
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus both include a faster Apple A11 processor, a glass body that is water and dust-resistant and supports wireless charging, louder speakers, a new Retina HD display with True Tone technology, a 12MP camera with a more advanced sensor and new color filter with optical image stabilization. The iPhone 8 Plus has an exclusive "Portrait Mode" lighting system, previously featured on the iPhone 7 Plus. Both initially came with iOS 11 pre-installed.[1]
The body design of the iPhone 8 was reused by the 2nd generation iPhone SE in 2020.[2]
