The iPod app was developed by Apple and released with iPhone OS 1 through iOS 4.3.5 to allow access to music and video content synced onto iOS devices through iTunes or purchased from the iTunes Store.

History

In 2011, the iPod app was split into the Music and Videos apps with the release of iOS 5.[1] Restoring the old unified iPod app in iOS 5 was possible, but required jailbreaking to do so.[2]
