The iPod app was developed by Apple and released with iPhone OS 1 through iOS 4.3.5 to allow access to music and video content synced onto iOS devices through iTunes or purchased from the iTunes Store.
History[]
In 2011, the iPod app was split into the Music and Videos apps on the iPhone and iPad with the release of iOS 5.[1] Restoring the old unified iPod app in iOS 5 was possible, but required jailbreaking to do so.[2]
