The iPod Camera Connector is an adapter that was released on March 21, 2005 by Apple Computer for the iPod photo.[1]
Usage[]
The adapter plugs into the 30-pin dock connector of supported iPod models with color displays; the other side of the adapter features a USB-A port that can be connected to a digital camera or USB reader. Upon successful connection with a supported device, a dialog box will display "Do you want to import these photos from the card?" When yes is clicked, it will display import status with an Aqua progress bar. After importing, the user will be prompted whether to delete the photos from the card. Thumbnails are displayed on iPods for imported JPEG images, but not RAW files. Reviews indicated that transfer speeds are consistent with USB 1.1.[2][3][4]
This adapter is also supported by iPad models with 30-pin dock connectors. It was superseded on March 27, 2010 with the announcement of the iPad Camera Connection Kit,[5] which included the same adapter along with a SD card reader.[6]
