The iPod Dock Connector to FireWire Cable, also marketed as Apple iPod Dock Connector to FireWire Cable, is an adapter cable that allows older iPads, iPhones, and iPods with 30-pin dock connectors to be charged and synced through a FireWire connection.
History[]
The 30-pin dock connector was introduced with the 3rd-generation iPod in 2003. An iPod Dock Connector to FireWire and USB 2.0 Cable was available for Windows users.[1] As the 30-pin connector was adopted by Apple's other mobile devices, with the exception of the iPod shuffle series, Apple dropped FireWire and only retained support for USB through the Apple 30-pin to USB Cable.[2]
