The iPod Dock Connector to FireWire and USB 2.0 Cable is an adapter cable that allows older iPads, iPhones, and iPods with 30-pin dock connectors to be charged by a FireWire device while connected over USB to a PC running Windows.

History[]

The cable was introduced in 2003 along with the 3rd-generation iPod and 30-pin dock connector, but a software download in June 2003 was required for USB 2.0 support on Windows PCs.

Supported devices[]

Some iPod models could sync and charge over FireWire or USB, but FireWire support was gradually phased out in favor of USB.[1]
