The 1st-generation iPod touch was the first iPod to feature Wi-Fi and multi-touch. It was first released on September 14, 2007 in black with 8GB or 16GB of storage. A 32GB model was later added on February 5, 2008.
Features[]
The iPod touch contained a 412 MHz APL0098 chip, based on the Samsung S5L8900. It included the Safari web browser, and access to the iTunes Store and YouTube, similar to the first iPhone, but with a watered down version of iPhone OS (such as the Phone, Mail, Weather, and Stocks apps being removed).
Discontinuation[]
Like the original iPhone, the 1st-generation iPod touch supported up to iPhone OS 3.1.3. It was discontinued on September 9, 2008, in favor of the 2nd-generation iPod touch.
