System Preferences 10

The Internet Accounts pane in macOS 10.15

The Internet Accounts pane (formerly Internet) of the System Preferences in macOS was developed by Apple to allow users to manage email and internet accounts accessed by their Mac.

History[]

With the release of Mac OS X, the Internet preference pane superseded the Internet control panel from Mac OS 9, and also included support for iTools. Internet connectivity settings were actually handled by the Network pane.[1]

In Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar), the iTools tab in the Internet pane was renamed ".Mac". In Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), the Internet pane was replaced by the .Mac pane, and management of 3rd-party email accounts was moved to the Mail application settings.[2] After the .Mac pane became the MobileMe pane, which was ultimately replaced by the iCloud pane in Mac OS 10.7 (Lion), management of email and internet accounts were again consolidated into its own pane called Mail, Contacts & Calendars.[3] In OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), this was finally renamed to Internet Accounts.[4][5]

Supported services[]

The default supported email and internet services include:

(other 3rd-party services can also be manually configured)
