John Patrick Ternus (born May 1975) is the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple Inc.
Education[]
Ternus received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997.[1] He became an all-time letterwinner at the university's swim team in 1994.[2]
Career[]
Prior to joining Apple, Ternus was a mechanical engineer at Virtual Research Systems from July 1997 to June 2001.[1][3]
Apple Computer[]
Ternus joined Apple Computer in July 2001 as a member of its product design team.[1][3]
Apple Inc.[]
By 2013, Ternus had advanced to become VP of hardware engineering. His projects included every iPad model, AirPods, and the iPhone 12 line.[3] On January 25, 2021, Ternus was promoted to senior VP when Dan Riccio stepped down from the role to oversee AR and VR development at Apple.[4][5]
