Katherine Leatherman "Kate" Adams (born April 20, 1964) is the Senior Vice President of Legal and Global Security at Apple Inc. as well as its General Counsel, reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook.[1]


Adams received a B.A. in comparative literature from Brown University in 1986, and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1990.[1]


Adams served as a law clerk for Stephen Breyer on the U.S, Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit, and Sandra Day O'Connor on the U.S. Supreme Court. She also was a partner at Sidley Austin in New York.[1]

In 2003, Adams joined Honeywell, where she eventually became the senior vice president and general counsel.[1][2]

In December 2017, Adams succeeded Bruce Sewell, who retired from Apple and became a lecturer at Columbia Law School.[2][3]
