Kensington is a longtime manufacturer of accessories, peripherals, and physical security locks for computers and devices from Apple Inc. It also produces gaming accessories for the PC market.


Kensington Microware Limited was founded in New York in November 1981 as a manufacturer of surge protectors and input devices for the Apple II and IBM PC.[1] In April 1986, the company was acquired the become a subsidiary of ACCO World, with co-founder Philip J. Damiano staying on as the president until December 1988.[2][3] The Kensington Technology Group moved to San Mateo, California and was incorporated as a Delaware company on July 19, 1991.[4][5]
