LG, formerly Lucky-Goldstar, is a South Korean conglomerate.

Background

Its subsidiary LG Electronics manufactured mobile devices which used the Android operating system.[1] After posting a $4.4 billion loss in 2020, LG announced in April 2021 that it would exit the "incredibly competitive" mobile phone business by July 31, 2021. Continuing sales would be limited to clearing inventory of existing models and the company will focus resources towards "electric vehicle components, connected devices, smart homes, robotics, artificial intelligence and business-to-business solutions".[2]

LG Display manufactures electronic components, such as OLED screens, for use in Apple products.[1]
