The LaserWriter Select 360 was a high-performance monochrome laser printer from the LaserWriter series that was released by Apple Computer for the small office market on October 21, 1993.[1]
Description[]
Though it retains similar exterior dimensions as early models of the Personal LaserWriter series, the Select 360 featured increased speed and resolution by switching from a Canon LBP-LX to a Fuji Xerox P1 print engine which was even faster than the version in the LaserWriter Select 310. It could print at a resolution of 600-dpi at 10 pages-per-minute with a rated life of 300,000 pages.[2][3][4]
The 16 MHz AMD Am29200 processor could rasterize images from PostScript Level 2 or PCL 5 printer data. The data could be transmitted through a LocalTalk network to its RS-422 serial port, or a direct serial PC connection to its RS-232 port or parallel port. An optional fax card can allow it to send, receive and print PostScript as well as Group 3 faxes.[1][2]
Included fonts[]
35 PostScript Type 1 fonts from the LaserWriter Plus are included in ROM. 64 TrueType fonts are also included on disk with the printer driver software.[1]
Discontinuation[]
The Select 360 was discontinued on April 22, 1996 and was superseded by the compact LaserWriter 4/600 PS.[2][5]
