The Lightning to 30-pin Adapter is an adapter from Apple that allows devices with Lightning ports to use cables and accessories designed for the preceding 30-pin dock connector. A dongle version with an integrated 0.2m cable was also released.

Release[]

The Lightning to 30-pin Adapter was released in September 2012 with the introduction of the iPhone 5, the first device with a Lightning port.[1] Apple stopped selling the adapter in fall 2018.[2]

Issues[]

The bulky form factor of the adapter prevents it from connecting with some 30-pin accessories. Apple offered a dongle version of the adapter with an integrated 0.2m cable to connect with devices that have thick cases.[1]
