macOS 11.0 (build 20A2411) is the first public release of macOS 11 (Big Sur) in November 2020 by Apple Inc. Though it came pre-installed on early shipments of Apple M1-based Macs, security updates necessitated macOS 11.0.1 becoming the first standalone release of Big Sur to the general public on November 12, 2020, in a similar situation as macOS 12.0 to 12.0.1 for the first Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max-based MacBook Pros in the following year.[1]
Development history[]

Build 20A4299w came pre-installed on early 2020 Developer Transition Kits.[2] A second beta (build 20A4300b) was released on July 7.[3] A fourth (build 20A5343i) was released on August 4, 2020.[4]
