macOS 11.0.1 is an update to macOS 11 (Big Sur) that was released on November 12, 2020 by Apple Inc. Though some Apple M1-based Macs had macOS 11.0 pre-installed, security updates necessitated that version 11.0.1 to be the first standalone release of Big Sur to the general public.

Issues[]
Updating to macOS 11.0.1 may take significantly longer than expected. It is recommended to check Energy Saver settings so that the computer does not go to sleep during installation. Data loss could occur if the process is interrupted,[1] which is a possibility if the drive to be updated does not have sufficient free space.[2]
Some Braille displays may not be supported over Bluetooth. A workaround is to connect such devices through USB instead.[1]
Development[]
Xcode 12.2 is bundled with the macOS 11 software development kit (SDK).[1]
