macOS 14.4 (build 23E214) is an update to macOS 14 (Sonoma) that was released on March 7, 2024 by Apple Inc.

Development history

The first developer beta (build 23E5180j) was released on January 29, 2024, followed by a second beta (build 23E5191e) on February 6th. The third beta (build 23E5196e) was released on February 13th, followed by a fourth (build 23E5205c) on February 20th. A fifth beta (build 23E5211a) was released on February 27th.

A release candidate, which became the release build, was seeded on March 4, 2024.

Features

This build adds new emoji and updates the Podcasts app to support searchable episode text. It also included bug fixes and security updates to address various vulnerabilities.

Issues

This build was noted for causing USB hubs connected to external displays to become undetectable, breaking apps that use Java, and preventing license validation of some copy-protected audio plug-ins. These issues were addressed in macOS 14.4.1.
