macOS 26.1 (build 25B78) is an update to macOS 26 (Tahoe) that was released to the public on November 3, 2025 by Apple Inc.[1]
New features[]
Other than addressing system-related issues with background assets, game controllers, and SwiftUI, this update features the first implementation of the MCP protocol for AI agents.[2] It also added an option for users to toggle the tinting and opacity of the Liquid Glass user interface.[3]
Development history[]
The first developer beta (build 25B5042k) was released on September 22, 2025, followed by a second beta (build 25B5057f) on the following October 6th.[4][5] The third beta (build 25B5062e) was released on October 13th, followed by a fourth (build 25B5072a) on October 20th.[6][7]
A release candidate (build 25B77) was seeded on October 28, 2025.[8]
