macOS Sequoia (version 15) is the twenty-first major release of macOS, developed by Apple Inc. macOS Sequoia was announced by senior VP of software engineering Craig Federighi on June 10th at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference. It is named after the national park in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.[1]
New features[]
Most of the new features of macOS Sequoia are focused on productivity:
- Passwords application
- Safari revamp
- Game Porting Toolkit 2
- Siri revamp
- Window tiling (similar to window snapping from Microsoft Windows)
- iPhone mirroring
- Math Notes
- Apple Intelligence (introduced in macOS 15.1 for Apple Silicon only)

macOS Sequoia supports the following Mac models:
- iMac 2019 or later
- iMac Pro 2017
- Mac mini 2018 or later
- Mac Pro 2019 or later
- Mac Studio 2022 or later
- MacBook Air 2020 or later
- MacBook Pro 2018 or later
- (the only change from the preceding macOS Sonoma (14) is that the 2018-2019 MacBook Airs are no longer supported, due to insufficient specifications)[2]
