Mac OS X 10.2.4 is an update for Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) that was released by Apple Computer on November 11, 2002. Its underlying OS version is Darwin 6.2, and its codename was either "Jaguar Blue" or "Merlot".

General enhancements[]

Mac OS X 10.2.2 improves and enhances the Address Book, iChat, IP Firewall, Mail, Print Center, Rendezvous, Sherlock and Windows file service discovery. Journaling is also included.

Journaling[]

The biggest news surrounding the Mac OS X 10.2.2 update is addition of journaling to HFS Plus. This is very important for the server market. Journaling allows the drive to recover lost data, or a wholly lost system, more easily after an unexpected power outage or restart.[1]

Journaling isn't new to the computing world, but is relatively new to the Mac OS. Mac OS X Server 10.2.2 also allows users to use the journaling feature.

Many view Apple's moves in this vein as an effort to go into the server market.
